ST. LOUIS — Shelby Miller threw six scoreless innings, Allen Craig drove in two runs and Yadier Molina and David Freese each had an RBI on Tuesday as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated Philadelphia 4-1 at Busch Stadium.
How it went
Craig beat out a potential double-play ball as Matt Carpenter, who had singled, scored to put St. Louis ahead 1-0 in the first. Molina's double and Freese's single against rookie Jonathan Pettibone (5-4) made it 3-0 in the fourth. The Phillies got within 3-1 in the seventh on John Mayberry's RBI double against Seth Maness, but Craig singled on a 3-2 pitch from Justin De Fratus to drive in Beltran, who had tripled, to give the Cardinals a 4-1 lead in the seventh.
