Pickup truck rolls over in cornfield, catches fire near Millstadt

News-DemocratJuly 25, 2013

A motorist was injured early Wednesday morning in a one-vehicle crash near Millstadt.

At about 2 a.m., the driver's pickup truck left Illinois 158 just west of its intersection with Roachtown Road, rolled over in a cornfield and caught fire.

The unidentified driver was freed from the wreck by emergency workers and then taken from the scene in an ambulance. Information about his condition and identity was not immediately available.

Skid marks on the road seemed to indicate that the vehicle was traveling southeast toward Millstadt from the Belleville area when the driver slammed on the brakes and spun 180 degrees before coming to rest in the ditch.
