Belleville Dog Park holds open house Saturday

News-DemocratAugust 1, 2013

Dog owners can bring their four-legged companions out for the grand opening of the Belleville Dog Park on Saturday.

The celebration begins at 9 a.m. at the Belleville Parks and Recreation office at 510 W. Main St., where owners can register their dogs for a membership to the park.

Membership fees are paid yearly. For Belleville residents, the fee is $24 for one dog, $36 for two dogs or $48 for three dogs. For nonresidents, the fee is $48 for one dog, $60 for two dogs or $72 for three dogs. Patrons are not allowed to bring more than three dogs into the park.

To register, owners are asked to bring a copy of their dogs' shot records because several shots, including rabies vaccination, are required.

At 10 a.m., the dogs will stop traffic with a short Pooch Parade as they make their way to the park at 110 N. Sixth St.

There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m.
