Coroner: Granite City woman died from heroin overdose

A Granite City woman died in May as a result of a heroin overdose, Madison County Stephen P. Nonn stated Saturday in a news release.

Lisa Rae White, 46, was pronounced dead at 10:13 a.m. May 4 at her residence in the 100 block of Kinder Lane. The autopsy and toxicology tests revealed that she died from a heroin overdose.

A coroner's office investigation concluded Thursday and ruled the cause of death accidental, Nonn said.

In addition, the toxicology tests showed White had a a blood-alcohol level of 0.143 and a toxic level of antidepressants and Valium in her system.

The Madison County Sheriff's Department also investigated the death.
