Red-hot Dodgers roll into St. Louis

News-DemocratAugust 5, 2013

— The Los Angeles Dodgers will put their 14-game road winning streak to the test when they open the St. Louis Cardinals' seven-game homestand at 6:05 p.m. Monday.

Former Cardinal Skip Schumaker is not in the lineup for the Dodgers, who will send Zack Greinke (8-3, 3.43 ERA) to the mound against St. Louis' Adam Wainwright (13-6, 2.61 ERA).

The Cardinals are coming off a 3-8 road trip. However, they won three of the last four games and scored 44 runs.

Los Angeles, meanwhile, has won 31 of its last 38 games to take control of the NL West by 5 1/2 games over Arizona. They were 30-42 and 9 1/2 games out of first on June 21.

"We feel like we're going to win wherever we are, and that's a good feeling to have," said Schumaker.

"From a talent standpoint, I'm not sure I've been on a team like this. I can't think of a guy with more tools than (Yasiel) Puig. Clayton Kershaw is the best pitcher in baseball. I'm not sure I've been on a team with this much talent in one room. It doesn't always translate into a World Series, but we'll see what happens."
