Does your son or daughter have a voice that would knock the socks off Idol judges?

The Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 7th Annual Junior Idol Competition on Aug. 22. The competition is for youths age 10 to 17. Preliminary auditions will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce located at 216 E. A St. in Belleville.

Pre-registration is not required but a $10 entry fee is due with each application and is nonrefundable.

Children will compete in two age categories: Ages 10-13 and ages 14-17. Contestants will sing a capella individually for the judges. No duets or team competitors. The participant can choose the song, which can be from any musical genre. Contestants will be judged on vocal ability, timing, stage presence, mastery of lyrics and overall impression.

The top five finalists in each category will be chosen at the preliminary audition and will compete for the top spot Oct. 5 during Belleville's 30th Annual Chili Cook-off event.

Rules and regulations can be found at www.bellevillechili.com. The rules and regulations are also available by contacting the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce at 233-2015.
