Belleville police investigate 16 vehicle burglaries in Highland, Belle Valley areas

— Belleville police are investigating reports of 16 vehicle burglaries Tuesday morning in the Highland and Belle Valley school neighborhoods.

The Belleville Police Department received these reports between 5 and 9 a.m., according to a statement on the agency's Facebook page.

The crime scene unit has processed some of the vehicles, from which various items were taken, police said.

Some of the vehicles were unlocked, some had windows open and some had windows broken to gain access, police said.

Police said these were the areas that were targeted: the 900 and 1000 block of Belle Valley Drive, South Pennsylvania Avenue, South Virginia Avenue, South Douglas Avenue, the 100 to 300 blocks of South Missouri Avenue and the 1000 block of Olive Street.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Belleville Police Department at 234-1212.
