I just finished reading Dianne Isbell's article on eating hamburgers. Is she for real? Who is she eating with -- the Queen of England?
Hamburgers are hand food, not knife and fork food. I do not know of any mid-priced to high-end restaurant that has customers who would shriek in horror if you pick up a hamburger with your hands.
I will admit to being a hand-eating hamburger person and I'm not ashamed to say that. I will also admit to use the appropriate etiquette when needed; for instance. I will not eat my mashed potatoes with my hands or pick up a steak and bite off chunks. Do you remember the Seinfeld episode where people in restaurants were eating candy bars and cookies with knife and fork? Please let us not go there.
If the letter writer is such a snob to even ask such a stupid question, why does she not ask her server to put the tomato, lettuce and onion on the hamburger for her?
As far as the catsup package goes, why is "letter writer" eating a hamburger in the car? Where is the etiquette there?
