Motorcyclist dies in Great River Road crash

A 30-year-old man from St. Clair, Mo., died in a motorcycle crash Saturday night, according to Madison County Coroner Stephen P. Nonn.

The Madison County Coroner's Office and Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the death of Nathan C. Allen.

Allen was riding his 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on McAdams Parkway, also known as the Great River Road, in Godfrey. The motorcycle left the road for unknown reasons and struck a guardrail, and Allen was thrown off the bike. A 911 call about the crash came in at just after 7 p.m. Saturday.

Allen was pronounced dead at the scene by Madison County Coroner's Supervisory Investigator Deborah B. von Nida at 8:10 p.m. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Allen died as a result of multiple traumatic injuries, according to the coroner's office. Routine alcohol and drug testing is being performed.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Chapel Hill Mortuary in Cedar Hill, Mo.
