Illinois 3 lane closures to begin; will last through next summer

News-DemocratAugust 20, 2013

Motorists will begin seeing lane closures on Illinois 3 from Illinois 143 in Wood River to Pontoon Road in Granite City beginning Wednesday, weather permitting.

The daytime closures are necessary so crews can do work on the pavement. The work is expected to be completed by summer 2014, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Traffic delays are possible during the lane closures and motorists are advised by the Department of Transportation to seek alternative routes.

The contractor on the project is Christ Brothers Asphalt, of Lebanon.
