Wine bar opens third metro-east location

Robust Wine Bar has opened its doors in downtown Edwardsville.

The wine bar occupies the space once housed by another wine bar, Erato On Main, at 126 E. Main St.

Robust opened its first locale at 227 W. Lockwood Ave. in Webster Groves in September 2007 and the second in December at 635 Washington Ave. in downtown St. Louis. Find out more online at www.robustwinebar.com.

The McDonald's at at 708 N. State St in Freeburg remains open while it is remodeled. The building's interior and exterior are being redone. The number there is 618-539-9712.

Holland Construction Services in Swansea is building a 7,200-square-foot addition at the Ritchie Bros. auction building near the intersection of Interstate 64 and Illinois 157 in Caseyville. The auction house will be adding indoor seating in the auction viewing area, office and storage space as well. The addition will also create a virtual auction theater, which uses a large projection screen to display images of items being sold.

Maggie Schmitz has closed her Edwardsville antique and vintage home decor store as she undergoes chemotherapy treatment. Schmitz said opened Maggie's Primitive Cottage at 441 E. Vandalia St. 10 years ago and said deciding to close after a decade in business was a tough call. "It was very bittersweet," she said.

And finally, the merger between the Swansea Chamber of Commerce and the former Fairview Heights Chamber of Commerce has been completed. The newly combined Chamber representing both communities is now know as the Metro-East Regional Chamber of Commerce, located in the former Swansea Chamber office at 1400 N.
