Temperatures this week will near record highs

News-DemocratAugust 26, 2013

After an unseasonable stretch of cool weather earlier this month, the metro-east is going to get a blast of heat.

The mercury will reach a temperature of 94 degrees Monday under sunny skies. On Tuesday it will be sunny with a high temperature of 96. On Wednesday the temperature will peak at 98, according to the National Weather Service.

The Wednesday temperature could threaten the record high in the St. Louis metropolitan area for Aug. 28, which is 101 degrees set in 1990.

The extended forecast calls for little chance of rain all week.
