A woman was threatened with a gun in her back yard Sunday afternoon in Belleville by a man who tried to rob her.

The attempted armed robbery took place in the 1000 block of Forest Avenue around 12:30 p.m. when a man approached the woman, displayed a gun, and demanded money from her.

The victim told the would-be robber she did not have any money and the suspect ran from the scene on foot. A neighbor saw the suspect run through the neighborhood and get into a silver/gray vehicle and leave the area. A detailed description of the vehicle is not available.

The suspect was described as a black man standing between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-8 with a medium build and a light complexion. He was wearing a gray hoodie and dark shorts, according to the Belleville Police.
