Blazek in, Martinez out for Cards

— Right-handed reliever Michael Blazek has rejoined the St. Louis Cardinals.

The team on Wednesday promoted Blazek and optioned right-hander Carlos Martinez to Class AAA Memphis.

Blazek, 24, has appeared in 10 games, striking out 10 batters in 8 2/3 innings pitched. However, he has an 8.31 ERA, has walked nine and allowed two home runs.

Martinez returns to Memphis as it tries to catch Omaha in the Pacific Coast League's American Northern Division. The Redbirds are one game back with six to play.

Martinez, 21, won his first major-league game Monday, allowing one run in two relief innings againt Cincinnati.

Blazek will wears No. 67.
