Collinsville man charged with attempted sexual assault of girl

— A Collinsville man faces charges that he tried to sexually assault a 12-year-old girl sleeping over at the home of a family friend.

Irwin Todd Miller, 42, has been charged with attempted predatory sexual assault of a child, a Class 1 felony, and sexual exploitation of a child, a Class 4 felony.

According to the Collinsville Police Department, the victim was spending the night at the home of a family friend. Police said she reported waking up in the middle of the night with the man kneeling next to her, his genitalia exposed. When she woke, he left the room, police said.

Police said Miller is under investigation in other jurisdictions on similar offenses, but no other charges have yet been charged.

Madison County Associate Judge Keith Jensen set bail at $300,000.
