Columbia High pushes back start time for football opener

Because of anticipated high temperatures Friday, the start time for Wood River's high school football opener at Columbia has been pushed to 8 p.m.

Friday marks the opening of the high school football season throughout Illinois. Prior to this week, metro-east teams have enjoyed unseasonably cooler temperatures during preseason training only to be hit with 90-degree heat in the last two weeks.
