Intense heat causes two area schools to move back football game times

Because of high temperatures Friday, the start time for Edwardsville High School's home football opener against Hazelwood West has been moved to 8 p.m.

Wood River's high school football opener at Columbia lso has been pushed to an 8 p.m. start.

Friday marks the opening of the high school football season throughout Illinois. Prior to this week, metro-east teams have enjoyed unseasonably cooler temperatures during preseason training only to be hit with 90-degree heat in the last two weeks.
