Convicted felon sentenced for possession of firearm

A convicted felon from East St. Louis man was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison Friday for possessing a firearm.

Ramone Reno Parker, 23, was sentenced in federal district court in East St. Louis. Parker pleaded guilty on May 16. He also faces three years of supervised release, a $100 special assessment and a fine of $250.

The charges relate to an incident that occurred on Feb. 12 in East St. Louis when an East St. Louis police officer stopped Parker for a traffic violation and found a firearm in Parker's vehicle. Parker was previously convicted of escape on Sept. 13 and residential burglary on May 18, 2010.
