Michael Wing brought in Alex Guthrie on a ninth-inning sacrifice fly and the Gateway Grizzlies picked up a 3-2 walk-off win against the Rockford Aviators on Friday night at GCS Ballpark in Sauget.

With the score tied 2-2 going into the bottom of the ninth, Guthrie led off with a single. Jose Flores advanced Guthrie on a sacrifice bunt, Michael Pair walked, Jonathan Johnson singled and Wing drove in the game-winning win.

The win was the Grizzlies (50-41) fourth in their last five games. Gateway is now tied with the Florence Freedom for the final wild-card spot.

Chris McClendon hit a two-run home run in the first inning to give the Grizzlies a 2-0 lead that was upheld until the seventh inning when Rockford tied the score with a Jeff Kremer solo home run and an Edgar Corcino RBI double.

Tucker Jensen fired 6 1/3 quality innings for the Grizzlies, allowing only three hits and one run.

The win went to right-hander Justin Erasmus (4-2), who struck out Kenny Bryant for the final out in the top of the ninth with the bases loaded.

McClendon led the Grizzlies offensively with a 2-for-4 night.

The Grizzlies continue their nine-game homestand Saturday night at GCS Ballpark with game two of their series against the Aviators. Right-hander Matt Sergey (2-3) makes the start for the Grizzlies. First pitch is set for 7:05.
