Ronald R. Slemer has been appointed the new associated judge in the Madison County Circuit Court, according to Chief Judge David A. Hylla.
Slemer is filling the vacancy of Judge James Hackett, formerly an associate judge in the circuit court, who was appointed circuit judge in June.
Slemer has run his own law practice for 26 years, giving him experience in a wide variety of areas, according to a statement from Hylla. He is currently an assistant public defender and attorney for the Edwardsville Township.
Slemer began his career in the Madison County State's Attorney Office and left the office as a felony prosecutor in 1986. He also served for 12 years as a member of the Glen Carbon Village Board.
