After a few days of mild weather, temperatures in the metro-east will creep back into the 90s.
The high Thursday will reach 90 Thursday with a 10 percent chance of rain. On Friday the mercury is expected to peak at 91, on Saturday the high will reach 94 and on Sunday a high of 92 is expected, according to the National Weather Service.
The average high temperature for Sept. 5 in the St. Louis metropolitan area is 84, according to the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration. In September the average high drops off dramatically. On Sept. 1 it is 85, by Sept. 15 it is 80 degrees and by Sept. 30 the average high is 77.
The record high in the area for Sept. 5 in 97 degrees reached in 1990. The record low, 51, came in 1997.
