Wall map

Tuesday Morning in Fairview Heights (new location near Hobby Lobby) has good deals on Discovery Kids educational games and activities. Its 55-by-33-inch fabric World Map is just $9.99, sold elsewhere for as much as $29.99. It comes with 76 animal, land and water stick-ons and is meant for children 3 and older. The store also sells Discovery Kids wall Alphabet Set, which allows little ones to match objects with letters, for the same price.

Guitar strap

The picture pretty much says it all. Stop in Sole Survivor Leather & Shoes in downtown Belleville and talk to owners Steve or Kay Rye about having a custom guitar strap made for you, from simple to elaborate. Steve does incredible work, and you can watch him craft a piece now that his workshop opens into the store. Pick your leather, color, toolwork and ornamentation. Prices start at $65. While you're there, have a belt custom-made as well. Cost: about $30.

Got a big kid in the family? He can lounge in some super duds with these one-piece, adult-size Bat Man or Superman jammies from Target. You'll find them at the Fairview Heights store for $24.99 in sizes S-XL. Oh, and they each come with a detachable cape!
