Columbia continued to roll under first-year coach Jason Mathenia on Tuesday with a 2-1 victory over visiting Gibault in a clash of Monroe County rivals.
Senior Andrew Dossett scored his 12th goal of the season and senior Kyle Gudeman added his sixth in support of senior goalie Eddie Star, who recorded 12 saves.
Mathenia, the former coach at Belleville West, has led the Eagles to an 8-0 start and they have outscored opponents 50-4.
Gibault, which will play host to Belleville West on Thursday, is 7-2-1.
Edwardsville 2, Collinsville 1
The visiting Tigers maintained control of the Southwestern Conference race with a key victory over the host Kahoks.
Senior Brent Heinlein and senior Connor Wright found the back of the net for the Tigers, who are 7-2-1 overall and 4-0 in the SWC.
Senior Alex Lamoreaux scored a second-half goal for Collinsville, which fell to 3-4-1 and 1-2.
Jerseyville 2, Triad 1
The host Panthers handed the Knights just their second loss of the season as senior Josh Chappel scored both goals.
Jerseyville improved to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the Mississippi Valley Conference. Triad, whose only goal came from Andrew Ducharme, slipped to 8-2 and 2-1.
Waterloo 4, Highland 0
Waterloo's shutout win over Highland gave it a 4-0 record in the MVC, 1 1/2 games ahead of second-place Triad.
Tyler Begis had two goals and Clay Metz and Austin Evans had one apiece for Waterloo (6-5 overall).
Highland is 4-7 and 2-2.
Mascoutah 3, Civic Memorial 0
In another MVC game, the Indians (4-6, 1-2) blanked the host Eagles (1-8-1, 0-5) on goals by Luigi Sardi Mellado, J.J. Abbott and Jeremiah Lorentz.
