Edwardsville cross country coach Patrylak on medical leave for rest of season

— Edwardsville High teacher and cross country/track coach George Patrylak will be on medical leave for several weeks following surgery last week.

Patrylak is in his 16th year of teaching and his 10th year as cross country/track coach.

Patrylak is expected to be released from the hospital shortly, but he will miss the remainder of the cross country season.

Patrylak will spend the next several weeks recuperating at home and is expected to make a full recovery.

Assistant coaches Dustin Davis and MiKala Thompkins will assume Patrylak's coaching duties, including organizing the Edwardsville Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
