As an elected official, I want to help make sure employers have access to a qualified workforce and the resources they need to be successful. I thank local businesses for the contribution they provide to the community and local economy. It is important to me that small businesses thrive and flourish even in the difficult economic conditions we face.
With this goal in mind, I am excited to host a free Business Needs Seminar with the Illinois Department of Employment Security from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, with registration starting at 8:30 a.m., at the World Shooting and Recreation Complex, 1 Main Event Lane, Suite 510, in Sparta. People who want to meet with me and other business owners before the seminar should plan to arrive at registration early.
This seminar will provide information on money-saving tools to hire and retain qualified individuals.
The workshop will highlight a number of topics including unemployment insurance claim protests, tax credits for new hires, mock adjudication interviews, new employee bonding programs, information for those re-entering employment services and general information on current labor market conditions. The Illinois Department of Employment Security will also answer questions about these topics specific to a business.
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. This event gives me the opportunity to speak with local business leaders about what they need to be successful.
I encourage local business owners to attend so they are well-informed about state resources available to them.
