Voters missed their chance

September 26, 2013

I'm writing about the letters concerning Belleville Mayor Mark Eckert. As you all know, only 21 percent of the people voted in the last municipal election.

We had a candidate who was out there fighting hard for the people and we should have been out there working hard to elect him as mayor. I'm referring to Alderman Joe Hayden. I worked two years with Joe on our Neighborhood Watch and he helped to improve our neighborhood.

The letters on the Opinions page tell me that many people are unhappy with our mayor. Personally I never did see much he accomplished to make life better for we who live here.

I have attended many meetings at which I felt he is very disrespectful to some of the aldermen, which does not set well with me.
