MADISON — Shawn Langdon broke on top in early Top Fuel dragster qualifying Friday at the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park.
Langdon drove his Al-Anabi racing dragster to the top spot with a run of 3.761 seconds and 326.40 mph, breaking a tie with Doug Kalitta atop the points standings.
Langdon received six bonus points for leading both qualifying sessions. Kalitta and Spencer Massey are both tied for second with six points.
Funny Car points leader Matt Hagan broke the track record by going 320.20 mph with a time of 4.001 seconds to grab the qualifying lead in his Magneti Marelli/Rocky Boots Dodge Charger.
Allen Johnson was the top qualifier in Pro Stock and Michael Ray leads in Pro Stock Motorcycles. Qualifying continues at 11:45 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Saturday, with eliminations beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday.
