QUINCY — Quarterback Nick Lonergan threw three touchdown passes to Justin Dickens as the Quincy University Hawks beat the Lindenwood University-Belleville Lynx 36-7 Saturday.
The Division II Hawks (1-3) picked up their first win of the season, while the Lynx (3-2) suffered their second loss of the 2013 campaign.
Lonergan completed 17 of 24 passes for 318 yards and no interceptions. Dickens had seven catches for 190 yards.
The Hawks also got 57 yards and two touchdowns from running back Jared King.
Both of King's touchdowns came in the fourth quarter. He had a 1-yard touchdown run with 12:25 remaining and a 4-yard touchdown run with 6:59 to go.
The lone touchdown for the Lynx came on a 31-yard pass from Kerry Gibson to Harvey Binford early in the second quarter.
The Lynx trailed 15-7 at the half, but the Hawks scored three unanswered touchdowns in the second half.
Gibson completed 23 of 44 passes for 251 yards. He was intercepted three times and sacked twice.
Dylan Bradley had five catches for 64 yards
The Lynx committed five turnovers in the game. They also had a tough time getting their running game untracked as Kameron Harris, an Althoff graduate, had 15 carries for 31 yards.
As a team, the Lynx had 51 rushing yards on 27 carries, an average of less than two yards per carry.
Next up for the Lynx will be a home game. LU-Belleville will entertain the Menlo Oaks (2-3) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lindenwood Stadium.
