Democrats are at fault

October 4, 2013

President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid claim that the Republicans are at fault for the government shutdown. Both of them have stated they will not compromise about funding for Obamacare versus the budget.

The Democratic Party is to blame for this shutdown, just as it was to blame for the sequester. The House of Representatives has passed bill after bill funding the federal government but not Obamacare. The Democratic Senate has refused to consider every one of those bills.

Obamacare is a disaster for this country. It is not affordable. Too many people have gone to register for the exchanges and found that the health care offered had higher deductibles and higher premiums than their present health care plans.

What started with questionably charitable good intentions has had the intended effect of businesses moving many of their employees to less than 30 hours per week and no health care. Even the labor unions that previously supported Obamacare now realize what a train wreck it is and want nothing to do with it because their health care plans are better and for less money.

The Obama administration has given out thousands of waivers to business and unions to allow them to keep their existing health care plans. The Senate just voted to exempt themselves from Obamacare. If Obamacare is so good, why doesn't the Senate want it?

The law applies to everyone. The powerful and politically connected shouldn't be exempted.
