— A 47-year-old Belleville man is now facing charges after returning to the Circle K convenience store he allegedly robbed.

Lorenzo C. Ivory was charged Friday by the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office with armed robbery, a class X felony.

According to Belleville police, a man armed with a knife walked into the Circle K convenience store at 2709 West Main St. and demanded money at 2:49 a.m. Thursday. The clerk gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled.

A police dog tried to track the robber, who was described as a 45-year-old black male wearing black and gray pajamas and white tennis shoes. The scent was lost in the 2800 block of West Main Street.

At about 7 a.m., employees of the Circle K called the police department and said the suspect from the robbery had returned to the store.

When officers arrived employees pointed out a car leaving the parking lot. Police pulled over the car and detained three people. One was identified as the alleged armed robber.

Ivory is currently in police custody. His bail has been set at $500,000.
