Squirrel on power line causes power outage in Belleville

News-DemocratOctober 6, 2013

— About 3,300 Belleville residents found themselves without electricity Sunday morning.

An Ameren representative said that Ameren Illinois customers lost power just before 10 a.m. Sunday because a squirrel crawled onto a power line and caused the outage, according to KSDK.

Power was restored to all but about 270 homes by about 11:30 a.m. Ameren crews expected to restore power to all by 1 p.m.
