News-DemocratOctober 8, 2013

One westbound lane on Interstate 270 between Illinois 159 and Illinois 157 will be closed for the next two weeks while crews prepare to replace a damaged bridge beam.

The daytime lane restrictions went into effect Monday to replace the beam on the Meridian Road Bridge.

Beginning at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, all westbound lanes on Interstate 270 from Interstate 55/70 to Illinois 157 will be closed. Traffic will not be allowed to travel the interstate during the removal and replacement of the damaged bridge beam. The interstate is expected to reopen by 9 p.m., according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Traffic will be detoured around the closure via Interstate 55/70 and Interstate 255.
