Relationships are what are most important in life. How we relate to one another defines how we influence the world. It is not the dynamics of sex that is most important but how we work together to promote a positive atmosphere to make a better world.
Whom we relate to on a personal level in committed relationships with respect and love makes no difference. Religious marriage, although not necessary to be part of a merging of two lives, is for some people a beautiful way of commitment through a specific community. Whether you are gay or straight, it is the relationship that makes a wonderful contribution to society.
As for the technicalities of politics and law, please know there is no justice in denying all people the same rights of a committed relationship.
