The 59th annual NAACP Freedom Awards Fund Banquet will be held Oct. 20 in St. Louis.
The event is held by the East St. Louis NAACP branch, one of the largest NAACP branches in the country. The banquet honors and recognizes corporations, organizations and individuals who have diversity initiatives with a regional impact.
The NAACP works to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality rights of all people and to eliminate race-based discrimination.
"Our commitment is all year," said Stanley Franklin, president of the NAACP East St. Louis branch. "Our event celebrates how far we have come and reinforces how far we have to go."
Tickets are $50 for general admission and $100 for VIP admission. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Grand Hotel Downtown St. Louis Majestic Ballroom at 800 Washington Avenue. The event begins at 5 p.m.
