Tales that go bump in the night

News-DemocratOctober 16, 2013

Don't worry about all the Haunted Happenings going on in downtown Lebanon this Friday and Saturday night; you'll be in good hands, thanks to lantern-carrying escorts who will take you from place to place for the annual telling of scary tales.

The Haunted Happenings Ghost Story Tour takes small groups to such historic sites as the Mermaid House and the Urban-Pesold House, where costumed actors from the Looking Glass Playhouse will recount stories to make your bones chill and your heart thrill. (Material is suitable for all ages.)

Escorted tours begin at 7 p.m. and run through 9:15 p.m. They depart every 15 minutes from the playhouse at 301 W. St. Louis St., and last about 90 minutes. You'll walk six blocks through historic downtown Lebanon and end your tour at the theater. Jackets and gloves are encouraged.

Tickets are $5. Reservations are encouraged, but not required. For more information or to reserve your spot, call 537-2544.
