Missouri State University senior setter Carly Thomas, an Althoff High graduate from Swansea, was recently named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week in volleyball for the sixth time in her career and first this season.
Thomas directed the Missouri State offense to a .240 hitting percentage and 16.00 kills per set last week, averaging 13.62 assists herself for a pace of 0.90 assists per set ahead of the 2013 NCAA leader.
The senior added 3.75 digs, 1.12 kills, 0.50 aces and 0.50 blocks per set as well.
Thomas recorded the fourth match of 60 assists and 20 digs in school history with 65 assists and 21 digs versus Southern Illinois University Carbondale, adding four kills, three aces and three blocks against the Salukis.
It was also just the 16th all-time 50-assist, 20-dig match at MSU, and the fourth of her career. Thomas handed out 44 assists in three sets, adding five kills and nine digs as the Bears hit .270 in a sweep of Evansville.
Thomas is averaging 10.85 assists this season and also has 76 kills, 14 service aces, 32 blocks and 158 digs. Missouri State is 11-8 overall ad 3-4 in the MVC.
