Greek organization raises $12K for United Way

News-DemocratOctober 22, 2013

An African American Greek organization raised more than $12,000 for the United Way at a recent dinner event.

More than 100 members of the East St. Louis Divine Nine, a collaborative organization of nine historically African American Greek fraternities and sororities, raised the money for the Illinois Division of the United Way of Greater St. Louis at the group's inaugural Dinner for Eight Oct. 16.

The intimate dinner allowed attendees to learn more about the United Way and its 170 partner agencies that make the community a better place to live, work and play.

Additional support for this year's campaign is still needed. To give to the Illinois Division of United Way of Greater St. Louis, call 618-233-8441 or visit
