High school students attending the Belleville East High School homecoming dance were witnesses to a show they never expected.
On Saturday night Belleville police working security at the homecoming dance were notified by students of a suspicious person in a vehicle on the parking lot of the high school involved in "lewd conduct."
The man, later identified as Curtis J. Hutchings, 55, of Pinckneyville, was wearing a pink dress and makeup. Officers determined he had no legal ground to be on school property and located items in plain view that verified the "lewd conduct" described by students was a possibility, according to the Belleville police report of the incident.
Hutchings was charged by the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office with public indecency. His bond was set at $50,000 and he remains in police custody at the St. Clair County Jail.
