Indictment: Man tried to recruit child under 14 into prostitution

A Jerseyville man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on commercial sex trafficking of a child and inducement of a child to engage in prostitution.

Timothy S. Griesemer, 39, was indicted Thursday in connection with the alleged violations that took place Oct. 10 in Jersey County. He is being held without bond until his Dec. 2 trial date.

According to the indictment information, Griesemer attempted to recruit, induce, entice and obtain a child under the age of 14 years old knowing that the child would be caused to be engaged in a commercial sex act.

If convicted of the charges, Griesemer faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and is eligible to be sentenced to life in prison.
