Washington Park police chief's son is charged with battery

— A 31-year-old East St. Louis man, who is the son of the Washington Park police chief, has been charged with aggravated domestic battery, unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful restraint and domestic battery.

Aubrey Keller Jr., of 47 Martell Drive, was being held in the St. Clair County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail on Saturday.

The warrant alleges Keller held a woman against her will inside her residence on Tietje Drive in Fairview Heights. The warrant also alleges Keller grabbed her by her shirt and prevented her from leaving the residence. Keller also strangled the victim, who is a family/household member of his. The victim told police that Keller applied pressure to her neck and impeded her breathing.

The warrant also said that a red 2004 SUV that had Louisiana license plate number RKT022 on it was stolen.

Fairview Heights Detective Ryan Weisenborn investigated this case.

Keller's father, Aubrey Keller, also is a former assistant chief of police with the East St. Louis Police Department.
