They've beaten Belleville West (twice), Incarnate Word, Normal Community and Valmeyer in October... Favorite: Althoff

Could Surprise: Columbia

Notes: Althoff beat Columbia twice in two straight sets both timee, but the Eagles' young talent has improved since the start of the season....Other teams should not overlook Mascoutah or Freeburg, two teams with enough firepower to pull an upset or two. Favorite: Mater Dei

Co-favorite: Central

Notes: This should be a two-team race, but if either Breese area powerhouses looks ahead to the potential regional final matchup one of the other teams could cause some problems. Highland's height and athleticism are impressive. It's a shame the IHSA puts two state tournament-worthy teams into one regional, but only one can advance.

Class 4A

Collinsville Regional

Seeds (1) Belleville West (23-12), (2) O'Fallon (26-9), (3) Belleville East (18-5-2), (4) Collinsville (14-16), (5) East St. Louis

Nzingha Clarke (358 kills) and Aubrey Keilbach (279 kills) are the two big sluggers in the Panthers' net attack... Collinsville knocked off Belleville West 18-25, 25-18, 25-23 on Oct. 17. Senior middle hitter Cathy Schreiber (215 kills, 47 blocks) is a major force at the net for the Kahoks... Seniors Montira Mosby (322 kills) and Jozlynn Brooks (141 kills, 98 blocks) are the leaders of a young Belleville East squad that could be dangerous in the postseason.
