Historic traffic headache: World Series, Monday Night Football both in town

News-DemocratOctober 28, 2013

The World Series and a National Football League game taking place at about the same time just blocks apart could cause some historic parking and traffic problems in St. Louis.

According to St. Louis leaders, this marks the first time the World Series and Monday Night Football have taken place at the same time in the same city.

People planning to come downtown for the games should arrive early to allow time to navigate traffic and find a parking spot. The first pitch of the World Series is scheduled to be thrown at 7:07 p.m. while kickoff of the football game is set for 7:30 p.m.

Further complicating traffic flow, Broadway will be closed in front of the Edward Jones Dome at 5:10 p.m. as part of stadium security.

The Rams stadium holds about 66,000 football fans while at Busch Stadium about 47,500 fans have attended each of the previous two World Series games held Saturday and Sunday in St. Louis.
