November 3, 2013

AUTUMN DISHES: Ready for lunch with the girls or an autumn dinner with a few friends at home? Marshall's in Fairview Heights has plates, bowls and mugs in an attractive fall patterns. Sold separately, plates are $4.99 each (there were six), while mugs (10) and bowls (8) were $3.99 each.

Plus, if you like it enough to look for serving pieces, the matching bowl ($12.99) and divided rectangular bowl ($14.99) can be found at sister store TJ Maxx in Fairview Heights.

OVEN MITTS: They have come a long way, going from simply quilted to practically fire-proof silicone. Now the two have been combined to provide comfort and safety. These $5.99 mitts are silicone on the outside with a quilted lining and cuff. The gray one from Kitchen-Aid has a silicone grid on the exterior. Both styles can withstand up to 500 degrees. You'll find them at TJ Maxx in Fairview Heights.

SERVING SET: Dress up any dinner with a set of serving utensils that will look as good as the food you serve. From Pier 1 Imports in Fairview Heights, each metal beaded piece is $9.95; a matching cake/pie server (not shown) is $14.95.
