Motivational speaker Loretta Goebel to appear at Lindenwood-Belleville

News-DemocratNovember 5, 2013

Lindenwood University-Belleville on Wednesday will host Loretta Goebel as part of its motivational speaker series.

Goebel, author of the book "A Life in Parts," had a great job, a husband and two kids in the Chicago area. Everything seemed to be perfect until an everyday accident threatened her life.

She bumped her thumb running to answer the door which led to a strep infection that led to the amputation of her legs, left hand and the fingers on her right hand. Eventually she slipped into a coma.

Goebel will talk about her struggle to live and find what she calls a "new normal" life.

She will speak at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Lindenwood-Belleville auditorium at 2600 W. Main St. Admission is free.
