Cahokia man discovers he was shot in leg

News-DemocratNovember 5, 2013

A 20-year-old Cahokia man initially did not realize he had been shot in the leg Monday night.

Cahokia Police are seeking three men who were in a silver car, Cahokia Police Lt. Dennis Plew said. The victim about 10 p.m. Monday left his house in the 100 block of St. Paul Street to speak with the men.

When he walked back inside, he realized that he'd been shot, Plew said. The victim was in surgery Tuesday morning.

"It appears he knows the people who shot him, but our people have not been able to identify that there was a problem between them," Plew said.

Police are currently interviewing witnesses and seeking the three people in the car who live in Cahokia and the surrounding area, he said. He did not provide names of the victim or the people wanted for questioning.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cahokia Police at (618) 337-9505.
