Passage of gay marriage bill is great advance for Illinois

November 6, 2013

This week, when Illinois became the 15th state in the nation to legalize marriage equality via a vote on SB10 (Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act) in the House (and a Senate re-vote due to the effective date change), it was a time of celebration and jubilee.

However, the homophobic bigots such as the National Organization for Marriage and Illinois Family Institute are very angry about SB10's passage, and they lost the battle on this issue.

As a Christian, I believe God is very happy with Illinois for having same-sex marriage being legal, effective June 1, 2014. Nobody's religious freedoms are in peril due to the bill's passage.
