Metro-east residents can put away their umbrellas after a couple of days of rain.

But they might want to bring along a coat instead Thursday as they head out of the house. Sunny skies are on tap through the weekend. But they come with chilly temperatures.

The high Thursday will make it only to 54 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Then the mercury will plunge to a low of 30 overnight. On Friday the high will be 56 with a low of 40.

The high will hover around the 60 degree mark on Saturday and Sunday with lows around 40. But temperatures will drop even more next week. The extended forecast predicts a high of 40 degrees Wednesday with a low of 28 and a 30 percent chance of snow showers.
