No issue with Belleville's 9/11 memorial

November 7, 2013

I would like to thank all of the volunteers who have worked so hard on the 9/11 memorial.

Belleville will be so proud to have a place to remember and honor the courage of all the first responders, pilots, flight crews, passengers and so many other men and women affected by this tragedy. The immense loss of life that day will forever stay in the hearts of our great nation.

It is very sad to read that an issue of funding for this noble cause was made when none existed.

Alderwoman Lillian Schneider may be "alderman at large" -- heaven knows she lets it be known at every City Council meeting -- but does she know that she does not speak for the majority of citizens of Belleville on this matter and neither does the Opinions page of the BND?

I am glad to say that we, the people, of Belleville are still by far citizens of character and compassion, and we will unite for this noble cause.
