Two metro-east families forced out of homes by fire

The American Red Cross is assisting a pair of metro-east families whose homes were damaged by fire Thursday night.

Fire damaged one home in the 500 block of North Douglas Street in St. Jacob. Two adults and two children were displaced from their home by the blaze and the Red Cross is providing them with emergency food, clothing and shelter.

The second fire occurred in Cahokia on the 400 block of Levin Drive. Four adults and one child escaped the fire safely and are being assisted with food, clothing, and shelter.
