Thanks for helping veterans

November 8, 2013

We live in a great community. Our VFW Post did a "4-Stop" on Oct. 12 at the corner of Lincoln and State streets in O'Fallon. The weather cooperated; what appeared to be a rain soaker turned out to be a very pleasant sunshine event.

We met our fund-raising goal due to the generosity of this great community. The proceeds go to our relief fund, which is restricted by the VFW national by-laws to support aid, assistance, relief and comfort of needy or disabled veterans or members of the armed forces and their dependents, and the widows and orphans of deceased veterans. Our relief fund was running low and we needed to bring our funds to a level so when support is needed we can respond and help.

We can't say enough about how proud we are to be in the O'Fallon community and represent residents when we help our veterans. Thanks to everyone who reached into their pocketbooks and placed their dollars in our helmets. We were pleased to put our poppies in the hands of the generous citizens who support our veterans.
